· Tournament Format: single knockout with first match consolations

· Number of events you can play: 2 total (either 2 doubles or 1 doubles and 1 singles). Any players that register incorrectly will be subject to a $10 admin fee per event)

· Junior Participation:Juniors U14 and up are eligible to play in all events. U12 players are not eligible to play in any event. U12’s that register in this tournament will be removed and issued a $10 admin fee per event registered.

PLAY TENNIS:
Eligibility in Play Tennis Tournaments will be based primarily on a player’s Rogers Ranking points or in the case of doubles on the combined total of the teams Rogers Ranking points. Where a player or team does not have a ranking point value established the host tournament committee will investigate to the best of its ability and determine if the player or team is placed in the appropriate category.
Host tournament committees may take into account other factors that wouldpermit a player to play down a category but this should be the exception ratherthan the norm, and the host tournament committee must be able to justify itsdecision in doing so.
Formal Requests can be put forward by a player to be considered to play down in a category, but the request must include written justification as to why the player should play down a category. It is at the tournament committee’s discretion whether or not you will be permitted to play in an event your ranking does not qualify you for. Please note that this is only a request and cannot be guaranteed.
· A player cannot play in a singles category if his/her ranking points is greater than the upper limit set for that category.
· A doubles team cannot play in a doubles category if their combined ranking points are greater than the upper limit set for that category.

· As the Rogers Rankings is a new system these break points are to be reviewed on an ongoing basis to ensure the categories are appropriate. Tennis Alberta will work with the host clubs to post any revisions to the break points in the tournament notes for each tournament.
· The doubles eligibility will be revised to reflect the combined team ranking points. Where a player may not have ranking points assigned, the Tournament Committee will seek out information regarding the player’s ability to ensure he/she is the appropriate category.
Junior eligibility in sanctioned Play Tennis Events:
1. Tournament Host Club has discretion to determine if Juniors are eligible to participate in the event at the 3.0 or 4.0 level. Eligibility regarding junior participation must be clearly communicated on registration information if Juniors can/ cannot play.
2. When permitted to enter the tournament, juniors are subject to the same ranking point eligibility requirements as adult participants
3. Where a club permits Juniors to play in Play Tennis Event, participants must be eligible to compete as a U14 participant, players that compete in the U12 level or younger are not eligible to enter in Play Tennis Tournaments.
4. A Junior player winning a play tennis category (3.0/4.0) is immediately ineligible to play in that category and must move up to the next category.
5. Junior players are ineligible to participate in the 3.0 & 4.0 Provincial Championships
· If there are insufficient entries in some event categories, the tournament director has a right to combine events.
· Consolations: First match consolations, mandatory
· Manual fee:
o Players who do not use the on-line registration system for tournament entries and Player Card purchases will be subject to a $10 administration fee.
· Late Entry Policy:
o Entries will be accepted up until the entry deadline. Late entries may be accepted provided the draw has not been completed. Late entries that are accepted will be subjected to a $25 late registration fee.
· Withdrawal policy:
o Before the draw has been made will not result in any loss of points.
o After the draw has been made (default) will result in an automatic loss of 20 points, while their opponent will gain 20 points.
o Three defaults within a 12 month period will result in a suspension from sanctioned tournaments for a period of three months. After this period of time the player will be reinstated with 50 less ranking points. (The 12 month period will be defined as 12 months after the first default).
· Refund Policy:
o Withdraw before registration deadline will result in a full refund minus a $5/per event administration fee.
o Withdraw after registration deadline will result in refund of half of each events entry fee.
o Withdraw after draws have been posted will result in no refund (See withdrawal policy for default criteria).
· Scheduling Requests:
o Must be made prior to entry deadline.
