    •

    Age Category

    Boys

    Girls

    U14

    20 (16 highest ranked players + 4 wild cards)

    U18

    20 (16 highest ranked players + 4 wild cards)

    • Players who have registered, but are not admitted into an event will be notified and issued a full refund.

    Example:

If a draw is limited to a maximum of 20 players, but 25 players actually register for the event, and Tennis Alberta’s HP Director and the Tournament Director award 2 of the possible 4 wild card spots…

Then the 18 highest ranked players according to Rogers Rankings (in that particular age category) and the 2 wild cards are allowed into the draw.  The remaining 5 players who were not allowed into the draw will be notified and refunded their entry fees.

JUNIOR CHAMPS:

CHAMPS tournaments admit all junior players under the given age category as of January 1, 2012.

·         Top four as based on Tennis Alberta junior open ranking in any age category (12/14/16) are eligible to play two age categories in Tennis Alberta junior Champs events regardless of which events are offered (see Eligibility to Play up In Age Categories information below for clarification)

·         Players ranked five and lower are eligible to play one singles and one doubles event if it is offered

·         Players playing one age category may enter any one category as long as they meet the age requirements

·         All players are limited to enter a maximum of two events. If a player is not in the top four based on the junior open ranking he/she cannot enter two age categories regardless if the players ranked first to fourth are not participating in the event.

Eligibility to Play up In Age Categories:
In sanctioned Junior Champs tournaments where the age categories are split (U12/U16 and U14/U18), all players are allowed to play up one age category but a player must be ranked in the top 4 in the age category above their own to play up 2 age categories.
For example to play in a U18 event you must be eligible - as a U16 - or a U14 player that is ranked in the top four of the U16 age category
